LEARNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEM

Real programs. Real problems. Here's how EWN solved them.

EWN's learning management tools serve operators of all sizes, from single-state distribution companies to multi-segment enterprise operators managing thousands of workers and contractors.

How operators use EWN's learning management tools

  • Three systems. Zero visibility. One fix.

A mid-size distribution operator was managing training records across folders, a legacy LMS, and a paper binder system that hadn't been fully digitized. OQ qualifications were in one place, safety training was in another, and HR onboarding completions were in a third. No one had a complete picture of any individual worker's training status.

Using EWN's LMS and SCORM upload capabilities, the operator migrated their existing digital content into EWN, digitized their paper records, and established EWN as the single system of record for all workforce training—OQ, safety, and HR. Leadership now pulls one report to see workforce readiness across all training requirements.

    • Consolidated 3+ systems into one platform
    • Eliminated manual record reconciliation at audit time
    • Gave HR, Safety, and OQ teams a shared view of workforce training status
  • Building a compliant OQ program before the first inspection.

A newly regulated gathering operator had never built a formal OQ program. They had no existing content, no evaluation infrastructure, and no system for tracking qualifications. Their covered task list needed to be identified, content needed to be developed or sourced, and evaluators needed to be trained, all before their first PHMSA inspection window.

EWN identified the operators covered task list and matched each task to content from EWN's standardized library. For tasks requiring site-specific procedures, EWN's custom content team developed targeted CBTs and performance evaluations. The operator launched a fully functional, PHMSA-defensible OQ program in weeks—not the months a build-from-scratch approach would have required.

    • Covered task identification completed through structured Program Assessment
    • Standardized library content deployed immediately for common tasks
    • Custom content developed for site-specific and proprietary task requirements
    • Full program launch in weeks, not months
  • From informal mentoring to an audit-ready OJT record.

A transmission operator running a formal apprentice program needed a way to track Mentor & Apprentice pairings, log on-the-job training hours and task completions, and maintain documented proof that apprentices had demonstrated competency under the supervision of a qualified mentor before being independently qualified.

EWN let the operator assign mentor relationships, log field observations, and create a complete qualification record for each apprentice that includes both the training history and the supervised task completions required for independent qualification. Every step is documented in EWN.

    • Structured M&A pairings with documented supervision records
    • OJT completion tracked at the task level, not just hours
    • Full apprentice qualification records auditable from day one of the program
  • When your contractor workforce outgrew your training platform.

A large distribution operator working with hundreds of contractor companies needed a way to assign and track training completion across their entire contractor workforce without requiring each contractor to maintain a separate system or submit completion records manually.

Through EWN's LMS, the operator assigns required training directly to contractor companies in their network. Contractors access the training through their own EWN accounts, complete it on their schedule, and their completions are automatically visible to the operator with no manual collection, no portal submissions, and no reconciliation.

    • Training assigned to contractor companies directly from the operator's LMS
    • Completion tracking automated. No manual submission required from contractors
    • Operator sees contractor workforce training status in real time
  • One compliance report for safety training and OQ.

A gathering operator's safety team was running a standalone LMS for OSHA, first aid, and confined space training completely separate from the EWN platform where their OQ was managed. They were paying for two systems, maintaining two sets of records, and producing two separate compliance reports for audits.

After uploading their existing SCORM-formatted safety content into EWN's LMS, the operator retired the standalone safety LMS entirely. Safety training completions, OQ qualifications, and performance evaluation records now live in one platform. The safety team manages their content in EWN, assigns it to field crews, and tracks renewals with the same tools the OQ team uses.

    • Eliminated a standalone safety LMS and its associated subscription cost
    • Unified safety and OQ records for every worker in the field
    • Single compliance report for both safety training and OQ qualifications
  • Absorbing an acquisition without losing a qualification record.

When a distribution company acquired a smaller operator, they inherited a second OQ program running on a different platform with different content, different task lists, and different qualification records that needed to be reconciled and migrated. The acquiring company needed to bring the new workforce into their existing EWN program without losing historical qualification records or disrupting active coverage.

EWN's implementation team supported the record migration, remapped the acquired operator's task list to the parent company's covered tasks, and set up new user accounts with historical qualification data preserved. Workers from the acquired company were fully integrated into the parent OQ program with complete records without a gap in qualification coverage.

    • Historical OQ records migrated and preserved through the transition
    • Task list remapping completed without requalifying workers unnecessarily
    • Unified program in place before integration deadline
