OSHA has developed an innovative interactive web-based educational game called the Hazard Identification Training Tool — a free online resource that puts workers and supervisors in virtual workplace scenarios to test and build their hazard recognition skills.

How It Works

The tool places users in three different virtual workplace scenarios where they must identify and address potential safety hazards:

  1. Visual Inspection
  2. Manufacturing Facility
  3. Construction

In each scenario, users navigate the environment, identify hazards, and learn about proper protective measures. The interactive format makes learning engaging and memorable compared to traditional safety reading materials.

Why It Matters

Workplace injuries and illnesses cost U.S. businesses an average of $1 billion per week — a staggering economic burden on top of the human cost. Tools like OSHA's Hazard Identification Training Tool help build a culture of safety awareness that can prevent incidents before they occur.

Access the Tool

OSHA's Hazard Identification Training Tool is available free online at the OSHA website. Look for the "Hazard Identification Training Tool" in their e-Tools section.

EWN also offers comprehensive OSHA 10 & 30 Hour Training Programs for construction and general industry. Contact EWN to learn more.
